Planting Details:
In Vermont, after several locations falling through, we had a very special planting in Burlington at Little Eagle Bay, right on Lake Champlain.
We planted a sugar maple in memory of a friend’s father who passed away in early 2010. Turns out this man, J. Paul Preseault, had a favorite maple tree. It was growing very old and very sick, but he demanded that it not be cut down. Soon after he passed away, the tree succumbed to illness and had to be taken down.
We ended up hollowing out the rotten stump, filling it with really good compost, and planting the new tree right inside it! It was a special planting to say the least, and to make it even more strong, the family gathered and buried some of his ashes along with the wishes that were planted.
We also visited the Ethan Allen tower, a Native American lookout that gave us great views of Lake Champlain.
