We Did It! The Plant a Wish Tour is Complete!

Joe & Sara with the final tree of the 50-State Plant a Wish tour, in Kula, Maui at Skyline: Eco Adventures, planted today, 11/5/11.

Today marks the culmination of an effort that was announced on Earth Day 2010. From our first tree in Monona, Wisconsin, to our last here at home on Maui. the Plant a Wish tour has been everything we’d dreamed of and more. We now turn the corner, take our “road trip” hats off, and put our “editing” hats on, as we prepare to complete our manifesto: the Plant a Wish documentary.

Our tour finale is just 3 days away! Some people are wondering if its one specific event on Maui, others think their schedule might get in the way, even more think that they’ll have to shell out some cash to buy trees to plant.

Well, after spending 15 months organizing, planning, and traveling to planting events in all 50 states, we understand that the thought of planting a tree can feel daunting, like a big commitment.

We have always felt that this final planting event – our grand finale here in our home state of Hawai‘i – should be something special. Something everyone can be a part of.

So, we designed it that way!

There are multiple events happening on all of the islands in Hawaii - and all of them are being coordinated in solidarity with Plant a Wish. It doesn’t matter where you are, or what you have, you can join us!

So, without further ado, here are 7 Ways to Be a Part of the Plant a Wish Finale: Continue reading 7 Ways to Be a Part of the Plant a Wish Finale on 11/5

(Makawao, HI) October 17, 2011 – The Plant a Wish project, a 50-state native tree planting tour and documentary film founded by Maui filmmakers Joe Imhoff and Sara Tekula, is scheduled to finish in Hawaii on November 5th with a statewide native tree planting effort and celebration. Hawaii residents are encouraged to participate in planting events being scheduled across the state, or to simply plant a native tree in their yard on this day. The plantings will count towards the “Native Tree Plant-Out”, which includes a statewide count of the number of people participating and the number of native trees planted in one day. After the day’s events, participants are encouraged to “register” their planted trees on the Plant a Wish website. The couple hopes to make the event an annual one.
