Joseph Imhoff, Founder
Joe is a man with a mission. With a former career as an auto body specialist and painter, Joe spent many hours inside a dusty shop and soon developed a strong desire to breathe fresh air. Now he has dedicated his life to planting trees, making sure that everyone has clean air to breathe, and he hasn’t looked back since.
His passion for life has taken him from high above the clouds as a certified skydiver and zipline tour guide, to the depths of the sea, where he worked in the scuba diving industry. He has spent the majority of the last decade affording Maui residents and visitors unforgettable experiences in nature.
As the outreach coordinator for Skyline Eco Adventures, Joe has coordinated and educated volunteers from local schools, churches, and community groups, helping them plant hundreds of native trees on Maui’s Haleakala Ranch. Previously, Joe brought together a diverse community of people on Maui at his outdoor music and art festivals, held on local farms. He currently works with his wife Sara, producing videos for businesses, organizations, and community groups.
Growing up in the frozen tundra of Madison, Wisconsin, Joe couldn’t wait until the first days of spring where he spent a lot of his time hiking and fishing along the Wisconsin River. As a teenager, he satisfied his creative side by making low-budget movies with his friends. At an early age, Joe was inspired to travel by his uncle who once rode a 1-speed bicycle across America, and by his father, who took his two sons on a cross-country camping trip. At the age of 21, Joe sold all of his possessions except for a motorcycle and what he could fit on his back, and set out on a solo journey that led him to some of the most beautiful places in America.
Since moving to Maui, Hawaii in 2001, Joe has studied the negative impact that humanity can have on its environment and has learned that Maui is the “epicenter of extinction” in the Pacific. Joe and his wife Sara are constantly engaged in projects that inspire others to adopt the best possible land stewardship practices. The Plant A Wish project is the perfect way for Joe and Sara to combine their passions for travel, filmmaking, networking and land stewardship.
