The Film: The 50-state tree planting tour project has been documented in high-quality video from the start. A feature documentary highlighting stories from participating communities, moments from the tour and interviews with experts studying the ecology, sociology, and history of trees is scheduled for a 2012 release, followed by a semi-theatrical release, and independently-organized screenings in all 50 states. From the Heart Productions is the 501c3 Fiscal Sponsor for the film project. The Social Network: Plant a Wish has a solid presence on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Vimeo. While touring, the planting sites are land-marked on Gowalla (a popular geo-location application). Using these tools, we continue the conversation with those we impact, and find new friends and fans. Currently we have 4,000 people in our online social network. In addition, our website is growing exponentially at a rate of 250% more unique users per month.
The Future: Plant a Wish is not currently a nonprofit organization. Rather it is a film project of Noni Films. All proceeds from the film will be contributed to further tree planting/neighborhood habitat restoration projects.
