Big News! New “Project” in Store! Plant a Wish Documentary in Post-Production, Seeking “Virtual Interns”

Big News! New “Project” in Store! Plant a Wish Documentary in Post-Production, Seeking “Virtual Interns”

September 16, 2012 By spectekula Leave a Comment

Aloha friends of Plant a Wish!

It’s been a while since we last shared an update on our project, and we feel like we have SO MUCH to fill you in on!

First of all, Joe and Sara (our project’s founders) are excited to share the news that they are expecting their first child on October 5th! Yes, while they are consistently working on the Plant a Wish film, they have spent most of 2012 adjusting and preparing for their most important project ever: PARENTHOOD! Here’s a recent photo of them together in the backyard on Maui. (Photo credit: Naomi D. Sheikin)

Some of you may remember that one of the original Plant a Wish goals was to submit the documentary for competition in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival (submission deadline September 24, 2012). As the date came closer, it became clear that the submision deadline’s proximity to the baby’s due date was far too much pressure for our fearless leaders to take on.

Now, the documentary is expected to reach near-completion (rough cut) by the end of 2012, and we’re looking to submit the film to festivals early next year.

In the meantime, to prepare for the most involved phase of our film editing project, we need to get SUPER organized. First on our list is having our many interviews transcribed.

Plant a Wish is currently seeking “virtual interns” who can work from anywhere to help get all of the the Plant a Wish interviews transcribed word-for-word. To apply to become a Plant a Wish “Virtual Intern”, click here.

All Plant a Wish interns can work “virtually”, in the comfort of their own homes, and will receive a credit in the finished film for successfully completing their internship. In addition, the Plant a Wish leadership would happily write a letter of recommendation for each intern upon completion of the project.
